Qur’an & Arabic classes are designed to enable learners to recognize the Arabic alphabets, pronunciations, vowels (harakāt), short vowels, long vowels, absent vowels (sukūn), absent vowels with echo (qalqalah), nunation (tanwīn), doubled letters (mushaddadah), prolonged letters (madd) and so on. The students will memorise selected chapters of the Qur’an orally until they are able to recite and memorise from the Qur’an directly. Basic melodic rhythms known as the maqāms will be taught for melodic recitations and synchronic recitations for presentations and competitions. This course is designed for everyone over the age of 12. If you are under 16 years of age, you will need to fill out a permission slip from your caregiver or join the classes with an adult.
